Vanessa R. Sheldon to Be Profiled in Exclusive Registry
Dr. Vanessa R. Sheldon celebrates a distinguished musical career

NORCO, CA, September 2, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Vanessa R. Sheldon, Associate Faculty Member of Norco College, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in music education and harp performance.

As an associate of Norco College Dr. Vanessa R. Sheldon is responsible for teaching music appreciation, piano, and music theory to students, and performing as a concert harpist. Ms. Sheldon is one of America's most creative and dynamic young harpists. She was named as the California State University's youngest to receive a graduate degree and has also been honored as the University of Arizona's youngest doctoral graduate at age 19. At the University of Arizona she was the teaching assistant to professor Carrol McLaughlin and member of the world-renown HarpFusion. Highlights of her international tours include concerts in Shanghai, Seoul, Spain, and South Africa. In addition to playing for such notables as Oprah Winfrey, Maya Angelou, Tippi Hedren, Barbara Sinatra, and Florence Henderson, she has also played as an honorary guest at University of California, Los Angeles, the Colburn School, the California Forum for Diversity at the University of California, Santa Cruz, for the Japanese Ambassador and Embassy, at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and appeared as a guest artist with world-renown cellists Michael Cameron and Masatoshi Mitsumoto, as well as the Anderson String Quartet and Barry Manilow. She became involved in her profession because of her educational background, and she attributes her success to her hard work, dedication, and passion for music.

Dr. Sheldon received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Harp Performance and Musicology from The University of Arizona in 2005, a Master of Music in Harp Performance from the California State University, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance from the California State University, Los Angeles. She is a member of the American Liszt Society and remains active as a composer, arranger, and transcriber of masterworks for harp.
