Marilyn J. Branham Receives Professional Networking Community's Highest Honor
Marilyn J. Branham Named Public Service Professional of the Year

LOWELL, MI, October 27, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marilyn J. Branham, Office Supervisor for the State of Michigan, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Public Service. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

A 37-year veteran of public service, Marilyn J. Branham has devoted all of her career to the State of Michigan. She assumed her current position in 1987, inheriting a conflict-ridden work unit and transforming it successfully into a cohesive team. Marked by an earnest wish to be of service, she continues in her work as office supervisor, serving as primary customer contact in the accounts receivable unit, assisting with the collection of money owed to the Department of State, and resolving a wide range of issues. Ms. Branham has been recognized by the state with numerous honors, including certificates of appreciation from the Michigan Department of State in 1996, 1998, 2003 and 2009, and a certificate of merit from the State of Michigan's Grand Idea Program in 1996.

In addition to public service, another passion of Ms. Branham's is music. She sings and plays the violin and guitar and, since 1969, has performed in various local venues. Known in her community as a musician, she is often sought to give private lessons. Ms. Branham received a Bachelor of Music Degree in 1971 from Western Michigan University. She is a member of the Grand Rapids Federation of Musicians and the American Federation of Musicians.

Ms. Branham attributes her success to the people around her. She is greatly inspired by her parents, who made many sacrifices to educate their children and instill strong values in them. In addition to her parents, she gives credit to three of her teachers who always provided encouragement and expected excellence. Being a young single parent, she cultivated in herself the determination and drive to provide for her own son; she feels that her experiences in raising a child alone made her a stronger person able to adapt and thrive in multiple fields of endeavor.
