The Summer Shakespeare Festival offers a series of plays performed in the grounds of Prague Castle.
PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, June 30, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Holidaymakers with a penchant for the Bard may like to head to Prague for the Summer Shakespeare Festival.
Running from June to September, the event takes place in several Czech cities and features performances of famous plays by the legendary Elizabethan dramatist.
As well as Prague, holidaymakers can enjoy productions in Brno, Ostrava and Olsany.
The Czech capital is one of the locations offering performances in English, so British people using Prague hotels have no excuse not to attend.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Prague Castle, this year's festival programme includes King Henry IV, The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra and The Merry Wives of Windsor.
Although travellers may not be able to reach the city in time for the opening run of King Henry IV, the first performance of The Comedy of Errors is scheduled for July 20th.
Directed by Ivan Rajmont of Prague's National Theatre, the production is set offer an interpretation of Shakespeare's comedy based on "verve, rhythm and irresistible fun", according to the festival organisers.
For those who prefer Shakespearean tragedy, Romeo and Juliet begins on July 30th and the first night of Macbeth is August 3rd.
Tickets for all performances are priced between 150 and 790 koruna (GBP4.70 and GBP25).
