PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, June 08, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Czech capital's annual festival of street theatre is set to take place from July 11th to 13th.

Based near the Charles Bridge in the city's famous historic centre, Teatrotoc brings puppeteers, stilt-walkers, jugglers, musicians, storytellers and other entertainers from around the world to the streets of Prague.

The festival has evolved from its 2002 origins as a low-key marionette carving workshop to become one of the city's most popular events.

Last year's Teatrotoc featured over 70 performances from 17 different companies and people using accommodation in Prague can expect a similar number of participants this time around.

Now in its ninth year, the festival offers visitors the chance to enjoy an eclectic range of acts during their stay in the city.

The family-friendly atmosphere is part of the event's appeal, with children's workshops taking place alongside the main performances each day.

Youngsters will have the opportunity to join in the fun by creating their own puppets, masks and other theatrical items.

The programme for last year's Teatrotoc included Brazilian hand puppet plays from Gilberto Conti Padao, gothic music by Czech act Braagas, Australian acrobat Ledbouy and Tomas Behal's one-man puppet show Firebird Men.
