Kenneth Walker Dance Project's "From the Ground Up" presents premieres and audience favorites at home season performance at Cal State University, Long Beach on August 14, 2010
Supported in part by a grant from the Arts Council for Long Beach and the City of Long Beach, Kenneth Walker Dance Project showcases original works by nationally recognized choreographer Kenneth Walker.

LOMITA, CA, June 19, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kenneth Walker Dance Project (KWDP), a contemporary ballet company, premieres new works along with audience favorites for the sixth season in a row in an evening entitled "From the Ground Up" one night only on Saturday, August 14, 2010, 7:30 pm at Martha B. Knoebel Dance Theatre, California State University Long Beach, 6200 East Atherton, Street, Long Beach CA 90840. Tickets are $14 presale, $17 at the door, $10 for students/seniors. KWDP will showcase "Drift" set to the commissioned music of composer, Wes Hambright, "Purgatory," Kenneth Walker's all female ballet reflecting on the cyclical nature of life and the afterlife, and audience favorite "Flesh and Blood." Guest choreographers Ken Datugan and Angela Jordan will round out the event.

Comprised of Southern California dancers, KWDP is a vehicle for nationally recognized choreographer Kenneth Walker. The company has appeared at the prestigious Piccolo Spoleto Festivals in Charleston, South Carolina in 2006/2007, AAPHERD Southeast Conference in Virginia in 2006, American Dance Guild Festival in New York in, MAD BAD Festival in the Bay Area in 2009 and the Pasadena Dance Festival in 2010. Mr. Walker's choreography is well received by audiences and critics alike. John Meehan former director Hong Kong Ballet, described Walker's Savage Grace as "...a fun piece, full of energy with some nice choreographic invention;" and, Alun Jones, former director of Louisville Ballet called Savage Grace "tremendous."
