Malkovich was himself was the subject of a story in the 1999 film Being John Malkovich, but here he plays the role of Jack Unterweger, a poet and convicted murderer.

The plot revolving around Unterweger is real-life depiction of what happened to the man, as he becomes a suspect in a major trial involving 11 prostitutes that have been killed.

He flees Vienna, where he had been living, but gets arrested in the US and extradited back to Austria where he must face his crimes.

As well as seeing Malkovich take on the lead of this play-concert, there will be two sopranos and a baroque orchestra helping to portray the suffering the main character goes through.

Malkovich, who travels in Bilbao hotels, captivated audiences in such films as In the Shadow of the Vampire, Of Mice and Men and Con Air, will be backed up by an exceptionally high calibre of music, with pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi and Haydn all being played during the show.
