Fans of opera music and traditional Chinese theatre who are staying in Hong Kong hotels in June and July may wish to take in the 2010 Chinese Opera Festival.
HONG KONG, HK, April 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Opera fans staying in Hong Kong hotels during the months of June and July will have plenty to keep them entertained during their stay as the city plays host to a musical and cultural festival.
Theatre lovers can take part in a number of free events across the city during the Chinese Opera Festival 2010, including foyer performances, exhibitions, talks and seminars.
Organisers intend to make the festival - which is set to run from June 4th to July 21st - an annual event in order to provide the public with greater insight into traditional Chinese theatre and culture.
Among the productions set to take to the stage during the event is a new Cantonese opera from the Hong Fung Cantonese Opera Institute titled Eternal Lament at the Palace of Eternal Life.
Others include the Peking Opera Theatre of Beijing's The Legacy of Chen Yanqiu and Poignant Tunes by the Cantonese Music and Song Art Troupe.
Tickets for these - and many other - performances can be purchased online or from Urbtix outlets.
The 48-day event is part of Festive Hong Kong 2010, which is arranged by the city's tourism board as part of a year-long series of Chinese and Western cultural celebrations.
