Comix Comedy Club and The Hysterical Festival Announce partnership

/Performing Arts News Articles/ - NEW YORK, April 19, 2008 -- On Monday April 14th Comix Comedy Club and The Hysterical Festival officially announced their partnership at The Hysterical Fundraiser. Sponsored by BUST Magazine, the fundraiser showcased talent from HBO's Flight of the Conchords, Upright Citizens Brigade, VH1, and Comedy Central. But the big moment of the night came when Festival founder Desiree Burch and Comix publicist Kambri Crews joined two oversized Best Friends Forever hearts to symbolize the club's relationship with the Festival.

"There really isn't a better stand-up comedy club that could support a female-focused comedy festival," says Comix's Crews. "Not only do we regularly have female headliners like Janeane Garofalo, Maria Bamford, and Roseanne performing at our club, but the club itself is run primarily by women. In addition to me, the two Directors of Programming, the Manager of Operations, our Executive Chef, and Private Events and Group Sales Director at Comix are all women. That's a lot of estrogen fueling this typically male-dominated industry."

"We wanted to really embrace the whole girl vibe and really go big," explains Burch, "we originally tried to work in an oversized check, but realized bringing junior high back would be even better."
