Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Pi Eta Zeta Chapter wins Step Show Competition.
/Performing Arts News Articles/ - November 12, 2006 - On November 4, 2006 at the "Step into the Night with the Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Rho Nu Omega Chapter", Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Pi Eta Zeta Chapter, Seoul, South Korea, won 2nd Place overall and 1st Place for Sorority bringing home a $300.00 check for their scholarship fund. With an "Apprentice" theme, Pi Eta Zeta members Quiana Manning (stepmaster), Tameko Friend, La'Ketha Prioleau, Jaynene Smith, and Laverne Stanley wowed the crowd with precision steps, synchronized motions, and a tribute to the fraternities that compose "The Divine Nine". Every year, Pi Eta Zeta Chapter awards scholarships to High School Seniors from DoD schools in South Korea. Zeta Phi Beta was founded January 16, 1920 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C. as the sister organization to Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Five women chose not to embrace the tenets of established black sororities, and chartered Zeta Phi Beta Sorority to encourage the highest standards of scholarship through scientific, literary, cultural, and educational programs; promote service projects on college campuses and in the community; foster sisterhood; and exemplify the ideal of Finer Womanhood. A private nonprofit organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority is incorporated in Washington, DC and in the state of Illinois.
