The Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast Attracts the Attention of KQED Podcast Incubator
/24-7PressRelease/ - FREMONT, CA, May 13, 2006 -- AudioLuxe.com, a company formed by a former KQED producer of the California Report, has listed, on its website, The Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast (aka C.AS.H-Tp) as one of the podcasts it's working with and incubating. AudioLuxe is contracting with KQED interactive to find, and cultivate podcasts to be presented into the KQED podcast lineup.
The Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast seeks to change the way theatre markets itself to the 35 and younger crowd. "As much as I enjoy James Lipton's Inside the Actor's Studio, his respectful posture and meticulous research just isn't as fun as the host of Cool As Hell podcast's energy and fearless interview style", states author of the arts management blog: Buttsseats.com. Michael Rice, creator and Executive Director of C.AS.H-Tp, strongly believes that if theatre wants to reinvent itself, it must embrace technological marketing techniques to restock and reinvigorate its aging constituency.
Podcasting is one of the newest technologies to take the nation by storm. Unfortunately, the performing arts community is one of the slowest to adopt and adapt to new technology. Consequently this community does not have a strong track record with using technology to bolster its bottom line.
C.AS.H-Tp aims to and has taken direct steps to rectify that situation by creating a dedicated performing arts channel (internet radio station) the SF community can tune into to learn the ins and outs of the performing arts community. It presents interviews of well known and not so well known practitioners. It conducts round table discussions on issues affecting the arts and those practicing the arts. It also conducts special segment interviews that educate audience members.
C.AS.H-Tp is taking the performing arts community to the forefront of podcasting by introducing Social podcasting, modeled on sites like mySpace, and Friendster, by creating a network of reviewers that go out, review shows, create podcasts, then post it on the C.AS.H-Tp website, thereby exponentially increasing arts coverage in the SF Bay Area. Social podcasting is the newest phenomenon in this genre and the direct benefits to the arts community are evident.
C.AS.H-Tp, inspired by Amazon.com (and all the sites that have been modeled after it), is also creating an audience contribution podcast that allows audience to call a voicemail line after seeing a show, and leave their comments about the show. This will then be podcast for the public to hear, again, exponentially increasing arts coverage in the SF Bay Area.
The Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast was the first podcast producing content for the performing arts scene in the S.F. bay area. Most recently it was voted one of the top 10 news sites for theatre by TopTenSources.com, a site that scours the internet looking for quality sites to present to its readers
Michael Rice, creator and Executive director of the Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast, is also the official podcast consultant for Theatre Bay Area (TBA). Theatre Bay Area is one of the largest performing arts organizations in the nation.
The Cool As Hell Theatre Podcast has had the fortune of interviewing guests that have won an Emmy, a Pulitzer, been granted a Genius fellowship, gotten development deals with HBO, individuals who have created their own companies, artistic directors, etc. C.AS.H-Tp has developed key alliances with arts publicists.
